“Tinar” to Be Screened at the Cinema Museum of Iran
The documentary Tinar, directed by Mahdi Moniri, will be screened on Monday, November 2, 2026, as part of the 56th “Documentary Nights” session at the Cinema Museum of Iran. Following the screening, Moniri and veteran documentary filmmaker Farhad Varhram will discuss the film.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Association of Documentary Film Producers and will take place at the Ferdows Hall of the Cinema Museum. The screening begins at 6 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
Four Seasons in the Life of a Young Cowherd
Tinar follows a young cowherd, known locally as a “Galesh,” through the four seasons of the year. The boy tends his employer’s cattle in a forested, mountainous area south of Babol in northern Iran.
The documentary portrays his daily life and isolation amid the surrounding landscape. Moniri made the film between 2006 and 2008.
International Recognition
In 2008, Tinar received the Cultural Diversity Award under the patronage of UNESCO at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. It was also nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film that year.
Through its portrait of a young boy facing a difficult life as a cowherd in the forests south of Babol, the film explores his lived experience and relationship with nature.
The screening at the Cinema Museum offers audiences an opportunity to revisit a recognized Iranian documentary and discuss its visual approach and storytelling.
