Two Wars and One “Garage”: A Film Finally Completed
“Garage,” a social drama short film produced and directed by Ali Saberi, has finally completed production after being forced to halt twice during the recent military conflicts involving Iran.
“Garage” finally reaches the finish line
According to Franma, “Garage,” a short film produced and directed by Ali Saberi, has completed production after two interruptions during its production process.
According to the production information provided by the filmmakers, filming was first suspended following the outbreak of military hostilities. After production resumed, the project was forced to stop again when a new round of fighting began. The production team eventually managed to complete the film.
The interruptions occurred amid a period of major military tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States. The latest large-scale conflict began on February 28, 2026, with subsequent developments including periods of fighting and ceasefire efforts.
A father caught between illness and gambling
“Garage” is described as a social drama centered on a father struggling with the financial burden of his child’s medical treatment.
Under mounting financial pressure, the protagonist turns once again to gambling in an attempt to find a way out of his situation.
The decision, however, threatens to create a new crisis for him and his family. What begins as an attempt to deal with the immediate cost of medical treatment gradually develops into a much broader personal and family conflict.
The film therefore approaches issues including economic pressure, illness, desperation and risky choices, focusing on how an individual under severe pressure may turn toward decisions whose consequences extend far beyond the original problem.
When the production became part of the story
There is an unintended parallel between the film’s subject and its own production journey.
“Garage” tells the story of a man struggling to find a way through a difficult personal crisis. Outside the fictional world of the film, its production team also faced circumstances that forced them to suspend work twice.
As a result, the film itself had to go through a difficult journey before reaching its ending.
